a procession / proceeded / proudly / down the street / four drummers / 3 horns / and a big fat man / farting purple butterflies / it is a dream if they still say so

death, the keeper of the night / arrives / in its halloween costume / dressed as / death / and swallows / the whole swamp / all the frogs and stars and dragonflies and the moon / and even the sun / until there is nothing / not even memories / or even the memories / that there were / memories

i fell asleep / to the gentle snap cackle pop / of the fire place / muttering nonsense / to the sound of frogs and crickets / and the sound of a single mosquito / eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee / and the sun / taking over / the counting of the days

and finally / the saxaphone of early morning / sounds its sonerous sound / sending the rats scurrying / and the flowers blooming / brrrp brrrp brrrrrrpppppp / the blinding orange light / saves us

i walk into the park / and watch / two lovers / kiss / it makes them / uncomfortable

i dreamed of a crazy city / full of wild things / hamburgers at the stroke of midnight / a dog daringly doing diarrhea / an american fire hydrant / and me / the same colour as the pavement

i had a dream i had / while the owl went tik tok / while the water went drip drop / had i dreamed? i had

across the street / two men / fallen into a fountain / have a big fight / a small invisible goblin / takes bets / 33:1 / the crowd cheers

and there is darkness / that is not the night / until all that is left / is me / and everyone i know / and all of my belongings / a car / a cake / a house / and a bottle / of dust / all stacked on top of each other

i saw two men drive past / in a bright red car / and run over / a snake as old as time / and yell out to me / “the blue lotus will rise / do not trust the giant baby”
